We are pleased to welcome you to Arabic Words, an online Lebanese Arabic-English dictionary. This site started around 2017, when two Americans living in Lebanon were learning Arabic and couldn’t find an online dictionary for spoken Levantine Arabic that really met their needs. So, they decided to make their own with a lot of help from friends and tutors. The result was this website. Arabic Words has definitely been a side hustle––it’s nobody’s full-time or even part-time job––but we have been pleased with the response from all of you. For the past few years, the number of users has consistently grown month over month. Let’s keep it going!

You’ll notice that we have added ads to the site. While it’s not something that we were excited to do, we hope that the revenue will enable the site to move forward as we reinvest that money into expansion of the dictionary and improvements to the website. If there’s enough interest, we will consider non-ad forms of revenue in the future as well, such as paid user accounts for the website or apps.
